I am not sure what there name is, but I know they are a type of turbo. Anyways a freind of mine has a 72g bowfront identical to mine. It is stalked with fish, softies, mushrooms, a gbtc, and snails. He never does anything with this tank. It has to canisters running it with no mechanical filtration inside. Protein skimmer is a coralife 65g model. These turbo's are brown/tan in color and are spotted in white. His water is always yellow tinge in color as he maybe changes water twice a year, algae will not even grow in there. I took some of his rock to releive him of a lil. My tank now is cover in these snails, and looks like they are breeding. Also my nassarus snails lay eggs on a weekly schedule but never have seen them grow very big at all. How long do these snails need to grow? I was holding on to them to sale or trade when they get bigger, but tired of having them I have more than enough and tank is starting to get cluddered.

How big are the snails. If they never get big, they are probably colonistas. They breed rapidly and are a good part of the clean up crew. I'd be interested in them if you decide to get rid of them. FWIW, my breeding Nassarius never get bigger than about 1/2 an inch. Most are about 1/4 inch.

(end the shameless plug)

Currently several months into a study on the aforementioned Nassarius sp. and am finding some really interesting things out. Incidentally, I'll most likely be trying another more common species of Nassarius later this year... time permitting.
