Looking good. Now lets see the real tank! Also is that an original green slimer?!? or green planet? I am not into the fancy names as much, but something about a good old fashion green slimer colony is really appealing to me. Hopefully in a few weeks I can start adding some tester frags.

I’ll be happy to share the green SPS with you. Have some frags ready to go. As far as I know it’s the typical slimer. One of the first in my tank years back. I don’t have to much in my tank that’s “high end” designer coral.

Let me know when your system is ready for coral and you’re free to stop by.

The green slimer was my first sps ever, 9 years ago. Great SPS, grows like tree branches.

I will let you know when I feel comfortable enough to start adding SPS and really appreciate the offer. I secretly really want to see your fish room and see what I can learn and implement in mine.

About 6-9 months ago I introduced a few Bergia to fight aptasia in the display. They did their job and then hadn’t seen any for a long time.

A few months later I found a lone Bergia in my fuge. It made it through the system across the room to that tank. Probably living in the pipes and inevitable aptasia hidden in sumps and pipes.

Then no Bergia for a few months could be seen. Aptasia in the display is in check but my frag grow out was getting out of control.

In the mean time, I’ve been purposely growing an aptasia farm in a fish QT system with the intention of getting another batch to throw in there and breed them a bit so that I can disperse to all of my tanks. That tank is disgusting with the huge aptasia!

Last weekend, I found another lone Bergia in the fuge and also found that my frag grow out tank was crawling with Bergia. They found that system and went to town!

I grabbed a few and moved them to the aptasia farm. Haven’t seen them since but they should be in Bergia heaven now. Just waiting for the trademark egg patters to show up. I’ve got plenty of work for them to do in the QT systems.

It’s pretty awesome that they’re so resilient and I’ve been able to keep the family line going.

Thats awesome. I had tried to somewhat farm the aptasia too for a bit, and wasnt as successful. They always ended up eating it faster then I could make more. They'd go slow at first and then one I'd turn around and the tank is clean lol

They do eat themselves to death. Numbers climb until the food source is gone.

Luckily, I’ve been able to bounce them back and forth between systems and aptasia recovers in the mean time. You’ll never get rid of all the aptasia but they’ve done a good job in the display.

Also, I assume there is a huge food source hidden in my miles of PVC. So, they’ve been able to find some food.

I’m sure I don’t have the proper setup for prolonged breeding. I assume you need multiple separate tanks of aptasia growing out while one is actively breeding the Bergia population.

I gave up on my diy stir plate system. Just bought some cheapo units online.

I finally have all the phyto breeds growing out. Just introduced Isocrysis today. Had to special order that. All others came from starter cultures. The others have been growing out and split multiple months now. No additional light so far. Just sun powered. We’ll see how this does in the winter.
