Thoughts on BRS vs Spectra RO units?

I'm looking to upgrade my Ro/Di unit for better GPD and waste. The spectra pure MaxCap Performance Plus is a 1:1 with some added accessories but 600.00. The BRS water saver would be almost 150.00 less but I would be missing a few minor accessories and I haven't found anything on water to waste output. I've always used SpectraPure in the past so no experience on BRS units. Do we really need a 5 or 6 stage unit in the front range (Arvada) or would a 4 stage work?

I doubt you need 6 stage. And 600 seems crazy. The one I got from air water and ice, which is/was one of our sponsors, is nice. I've had since my second tank in 2012 and it still works great. Kinda slow is my only complaint. It was 150 dollars and has a drinking water option built in which I use too. 0 TDS

I agree 600 is crazy but it's one of the few 1:1 waste units I can find. My 75 gpd spectrapure is working great but it's using 4:1 waste and I need to replace all the filters.

Honestly most Ro systems are pretty much the same. The housing is the main difference between brands, some might have a few more bells and whistles, but by and large they all use a lot of the same kind of filters, membranes and resins
You can easy DIY one with a membrane housing and some reactors, just need a decent membrane, with the standard sediment filter, carbon block, and Di resin. I built my from a salvaged and repaired Typhoon Extreme III I bought for $10, with an extra membrane taken off my old 4 stage, and added extra DI chambers using a Dual BRS reactor that I wasnt using anymore.
Main point is that the brands dont matter that much here ime, since you can change the membrane/filters out if you want more flow or better rejection rate

I bought the brs one that does 150gpd. I think it does 1:1 but I’m not sure they actually list that. I have a 55 gallon reservoir that I fill every 6-8 weeks that gets used as top off. When I need to fill it I drain a little from the RO before it goes to the DI to remove the TDS creep then let it run overnight. I have a float valve to turn it off when it’s full. I bought a 100’ roll of the 1/4” tubing from Home Depot in their garden department, that I run out to our tree so I don’t have to worry about the waste since it’s not being wasted.
