Both, it was when we were sleeping so it leaked for hours flooding the upstairs and the living room below it...

Wow, you always hear about that, but I’ve never actually seen it. That sucks big time, but thanks for sharing the picture.

Ok so after being pissed of at work all day I have decided I would be even more upset if I sold my tank. A little water ain't going to keep this guy down! So the tank salinity was non existent and surprisingly no casualties yet, I'm slowly raising the salinity up and then I will deal with the rest of the parameters after that.

I wouldn't worry too much about raising it slowly (at least to 1.020 SG). The risk to fish and especially inverts is likely higher from a prolonged low salinity than a quick jump up, but an argument could be made either way. Something to consider at least.

Well... good! Can I suggest that you cap that drain and then drill a crap ton of holes in it... then pull it every few weeks to clean it. Set an alarm on your phone or something.

Thru a weird chain of events, even with redundant things my tank pissed 30 gallons of water (near a basement drain) yesterday. 10 hours of no power or blinking power, out of town and my apex sending me all kinds of messages.

I had water mixed already and the tank likes the big water change! Lol stuff happens, we learn from it... and others! Keep on trucking. If you have coral issues come over when the tank is stable and i’ll Hook you up.

Aquarium controller and a float switch would do wonders as well. Shut your return off, send a text, no water on the floor. Automation is a wonderful thing.

Hopefully not too much water damage from the spill and the livestock can pull through. My display overflowed a couple weeks ago from a big bubble algae stuck in the drain plumbing.

So I'm adding salt slowly because the small size of the system and I'm literally dumping salt right into the tank :) all corals are looking better this morning with no casualties. I figure I will just put some mesh around the drain so they cant enter it as well as drill a few holes in it for if they park on the mesh.
