The set point of the fixed ticket # is to make sure that you hit a minimum you are comfortable with and give a pleb like me a chance to win by only spending $20.

Or winner by Chess Boxing. Whichever.
Yeah, I get setting a minimum. But limiting the number of tickets sold doesn’t make sense to me...

The point of the raffle is to try to hook up a local reefer with an awesome nem for cheaper than buying one outright. The upside for me is that I may end up selling more tickets than I would list it outright for (downside I sell far less and lesson learned) If I set a fixed number of tickets, why wouldn’t I just set a fixed price and avoid all the hassle?
You could set a fixed rate and avoid the hassle, but with a set number of lots you guarantee that there wont be a downside for you. Even with a set number of lots, each person would still have a chance to get an awesome nem without spending a fortune.

What I would do is if you plan to do the drawing at a certain meeting or location you can also set a deadline. You set a minimum number for ticket sales but no max. If you set a deadline it helps to create a sense of urgency and if you allow sales up to a certain time on the day of the drawing including the location of the drawing you may also get some people that are like hey why not buy one more ticket. I have found that the deadline with a decision for people that are on the fence tends to push them to make the decision to buy.

What about advertising the drawing on the MASC FB page? Maybe shotgun it out to the other CO groups to draw more people into MASC and more potential tickets for the nem?

Totally agree about the deadline thing. I’m not really concerned about setting a minimum. To me, it would suck to be collecting payments from dozens of people, then fall short of the minimum and have to sort out returning people’s money. I’d rather just set a deadline to buy tickets and it is what it is! If I end up not selling as many tickets as I’d like, I’ll set a minimum next time.

It's funny, selfishly I want to keep it small....like only here on the MASC forum because it would increase my overall chances of winning ;), even keeping it small I could easily see 100+ tix being sold.

But as we discussed a few weeks ago, if forums are dying across the country then ideas like this serve as the perfect catalyst to pull new members in/drive people to MASC sites and FB page. On a large scale I see 200+ tickets being sold.

ok... how would you all feel about something like this for the lottery to ensure it's legitimacy of choosing a number.
Will set the Date and time for the drawing (at least a day in advance). will use screen recording software to record date, time, and random number generator's pick. will then upload video to youtube immediately and post link.

Example:
Drawing will be held Nov 6th @ exactly 10:22 am

thoughts?

Honestly this is MASC. If someone goes over that is bod and doesn’t have a leg in the run, that’s good enough for me.

Ya, I think that will work. It how many people on Facebook do some of their bubble raffles and other raffles like that

Awesome. That will be the plan then. Keep your eyes out, will be posting a new thread for the lottery in the next couple days (once I have time to separate one of the nems and snap some photos)

Thanks for all your input. This should be fun!

Can't wait, this is going to be epic!

Since this is so close to the Nov. 17th 2018 Rocky Mountain Coral Extravaganza, could a live drawing (and further ticket sales) be done there? Forgive me if it has been discussed already, but I didn't realize you'd be ready with the CSB so soon. I don't even think you'd have to have the nem there, nor would the winner have to be present to win...just a gathering of a lot of folks to get excited for the drawing.
