Alright, I need some ideas.

I've got a 75g reef that is open on top (no hood - lights hang from ceiling). Its not rimless, but I like the non-hood look. The tank is 4ft long, with your standard glass brace in the middle.

The problem is that I'd really like to get a pretty wrasse. So I need to come up with a solution to cover the tank since, apparently, they're jumpers. I looked at the BRS netting, and it seems like the right thing to get the job done. But $50 seems extreme, and I'd rather just pick up something from Home Depot.

Have any suggestions for me? I want it to still be non-conspicous from eye-level as you look at the tank. But it should also be easily removable so that I can add corals/tinker.

Get the mesh from BRS and then get the materials to build the frames from Home Depot or Lowes. They sell all the parts you need and you can cut it to the sizes you want.

What about just white or black egg crate? The white is readily available at HD, and can be cut easily with snips or a Dremel....just about anything.
Ive seen gobies, wrasses and jawfish still jump straight through the holes of the eggcrate. A screen or a solid top is the only way to be sure.

Artfully acrylic made me a custom lid. I know you don't want to spend but seriously its gorgeous and fits like a glove. Check them out and see what they can offer. Quotes are free and your wrasses will be safe

+3 to the brs clear netting and home depot frame. I used it on my new set up and really like it. It maintains the clean look I was going for.

I have the BRS screen tops for my 180 as well. They fit like a glove and you don’t even notice they are there. 3 separate 2x2 ish sections

Come to my class and I can show you the ones I made. I also have my built to go around plumbing that flows into the tank via PVC through the top.

I’m thinking about redoing my top and building in a small area that opens separately for easy feeding. Just something to consider while you are planning it out.
