Dorm build

#1
I'm not neccesarily new to the forumobut I am new to build threads. I set up my tank about the end of August 2019. I currently live in a dorm on a military base. Ive always wanted one so it was now or never.

Its a 29 biocube slightly converted. No bioballs, just filter floss, carbon and purigen. I had the hood on for a while but the ballast got real screwy so i took it off. Now i have a Kessil 360w hanging from a chain.

I started with around 25lbs of live rock and 3 inches of sand. Then I aquired 2 pajama cardinals. And I have slowly added cuc over time. I purchased a few expensive cheap frags just to see how theyd do. An athena tree, mush, and zoas now I have lps, softies, and way more zoas than i can deal with lol. About a month and a half in i got a fairy wrasse and tuxedo urchin. Recently I got a pistol shrimp and goby combo make tunnels and evade my gaze. So i got the less shy cleaner shrimp and he adds more character.

As for maitenance I do it frequently. Weekly water changes, algea clean up, pest searching. Its kinda hard to neglect because the dang thing is in my face all day!

Hey guys. I've never been too good with updating ill try more haha. Thanks for all the compliments and encouraging words. I shall update once again. Recently i added some new coral. A birdsnest and some star polyps. A couple sps given accidentally after a mix up at reef convention. So i have no idea how they will do long term. The birdnest and star have really taken off. All the corals are doing well except for an algea boom ive been fighting. In the months since updating i have gotten and lost a lawnmower blenny and my urchin. The blenny only lasted a few weeks and the urchin was sudden. I think my salinity changed too sudden for the little guy. Idk. That was a significant loss for me. I added 2 clown fish. Now you can officially call it a saltwater tank. They are doing well. I believe they are trying to find a coral to host them. I also got an anenome crab. I call him solaire for his sun pose arms feeding. My war coral started attacking the coral above it so i had to move it. Now theres a plug hole there. Well thats it for live stock.

I still do weekly water changes. It is a 29g biocube slighty modified. With minimal filtration. I feed every day pellets and mysis. I still want to get rid of that athena tree. Under a kessil 360w. With an acrylic top.(need a better top). Thanks
