I picked up a free 40B with the back panel cracked in the middle towards the top where a return hole had been drilled. The tank has he black trim across the top and bottom, guessing an aqueon tank.
Is it possible to cut away the silicone and pull the back panel out to replace it or should I try something else? Thanks!

I would just wait and pick up a new 40b from a petco $1 per gallon. The glass to replace that pane will probably run you $30-$40.

I picked it up for the neighbor kid to have a larger tank. Thanks!

you could try a patch job. cut a piece of 1/4 in glass that fits over the hole 2 inches in all directions and up to the top rim and redrill it and use it as a patch it might work.

you could just try and run a bead of silicon over it on both sides

I don't need to have the holes as he just wants a tank so the patch job could work. Just want to make sure it'll hold water before I give it away and have the back panel crack out.
