I had a buddy who's in the business do it. I ended up with a new roof - 50 year shingles as opposed to regular 25 year, 0 deductible, and nothing out of pocket. He's a distributor to shingle contractors, and handles it all...

I thought it was illegal in Colorado for the contractor to agree to pay or waive the deductible?

It is illegal to talk about it and get caught. Technical insurance fraud in every state - not just Colorado.
