Ok I've got 1.028 in my 10 g tank. I was gonna do my regular water change today but I need to lower the SG back to 1.026.
So what's the best way?
1. Replace current aquarium water with fresh ro to lower Sg to 1.027 today and than do a 2.5 gallon wc with a salinity of 1.026 tomorrow to get back to 1.026.
2. Do a large 5gal wc at 1.026 to get to 1.027 and than do another 5gal wc of 1.026 to get back to 1.026 in the tank.
3. Lower the salinity of my wc enough to target 1.026 in my tank and just do one change.

I normally only do a 2.5 gal change weekly. Would a larger change hurt my tank?
I'm thinking the last one is the worst way.
If I choose #2, will my tank be ok at 1.027 until next week when I lower it back to 1.026 in the same way?
If I choose #1, how much water should I remove from the tank and replace with ro to get to 1.027?

option 3, take out water, add fresh to achieve target, and then do WC.
no a larger change wont hurt.

you can lower the SG of the water and it should not hurt the system. The issue comes in raising the SG of the system it can stress the system out.
