crab molt

So i did a big water change and clean up sunday looking in the tank yesterday I thought I killed my sally foot crab, but it was just the mold shell so my question is do I leave it in for him to eat or remove it, someone said its good for them to eat

Maybe it depends on the crab but my most recent emerald crab molt (second one in 2 months) has been sitting for a week undisturbed.

If its still there in a few days remove it, otherwise I wouldnt worry to much about it

It's just chitin (glucose more or less). Probably less palatable than a dead crab with all the meat. Also, oz for oz my guess is that it creates less N-based products than meat.
