Completely! Only eats algae.

Any downfalls?

Nearly impossible to keep. They can fit through the tiniest overflow opening and if you have any pumps in tank, they WILL end up chopped up.

What about putting netting over you over flow and pumps. It would mean a lot of cleaning, but it might work.

The ones we got are about 1/2". As far as we know they will go after just about any type of algae though I doubt cyano is on that list.
