yes it grows crazy fast and has an extremely nasty sting.

I haven't read anywhere that it stings.. in fact, I have read there is no such thing as a bad sponge. I did buy some, but for two bucks, so not that worried about it, I think it's pretty cool looking.

In my past tanks Ive had tons in darker places. From my past research on WWM I did not believed they were bad in any way, just filter feeders. But comparing pictures its easy to be incorrect. When they became intrusive i would just pull them off and throw it away. If you like it and it doesnt present any harm good purchase!

I have had reactions to black sponge causing a nasty rash. But maybe I am allergic to black sponge. I have a white variation of that in my reef and nothing happens when I touch it.
