Bangaii cardinals are easy and if you don't want to do clowns will give you a little experience.

Neon gobies are possible but you have to make sure you
raise a LOT of rotifers. Neons are extremely voracious little guys.

Most other gobies and jawfish are extremely difficult to raise from larvae/prolarvae.
I like to refer new breeders to easier fish because they'll be hooked once they raise a batch.
If they try a hard breed and are unsucessful, they may give up too quickly.

I am thinking of going with Catalina Gobies they look good so if it doesn't work still have some good looking fish.

They are pricey, but they are ideal for cold water setups. I would agree Cardinals are your best bet for successful breeding.
