Everything was going good on my tank until recently i had a zoa colony stop opening and start melting. I did a bug dip and did a iodine dip today to save it. Everything else in the tank looks healthy and what ive read everything can be good and this still happens, but this has led me to the question of what i should be testing for next?

currently i test alkalinity, magnesium, and calcium. Im using kent salt and have found it to be high on mag and calcium, and low on alk, so ive just been dosing alkalinity.

here are my test today, alk 8.624 dkh, calcium 579 ppm, magnesium 1220 ppm

I rarely test amonia and nitrites, and occasionly test nitrates to be sure im keeping up on water changes.

what test should i invest in next? What parameter can cause make a zoa unhappy?

thanks in advance, mike

True, it happens to everyone. In addition to what you listed (Alk, Calc, and Mag) I test Nitrates (No3) and Phosphates (PO4). Salt ppt as well but that's it.

High temp. I have some zoas that will start to go downhill fast if the temp gets much over 80... others are fine.

Parameters, in this order:
Salinity, and how you measured it (is it accurate)
High and Low Temp in a day
Alk
Nitrate
Calcium
Phosphate
