So rather than get out completely, I decided to downsize (thanks to tango). Everything is still in really early stages, so I will post up more pics as I build more. Below is the plan for the tank.

Equipment
- 29g biocube with "in tank" refugium and media baskets
- retrofit hood with ONYX LED instead of PC lights and supplement cooling with 120mm PC fans.
- Apex light with one EB8
- VDM for dimming channels
- UPS ...that is intentionally bold
- (2) WP25s with torx harness

Livestock (right away)
- Aragonite sand
- my coolest fiji rocks from the big tank
- Huge frogspawn
- Gold torch
- Yellow scroll
- quad color hammer
- Rastas
- Tubbs blue
- God of war
- purple/green Duncan
- fire and ice
- yellow pinwheels
- and other sps I can salvage

Livestock (planned)
- Onyx clown pair
- yasha goby / tiger pistol pair
- McCoskers flasher wrasse
- Bangai cardinal pair
- Mandarin goby (if I can get pods booming or start a farm. I am aware this is difficult in a 30)
- Melanarus wrasse (possibly if mandarin is no go. Kinda iffy in a 30g)
- millepora, echtinata, and Acropora up top
- euphyllia in mid levels
- duncans, favia, and zoas in sand bed and low rocks.

With the utmost empathy for your misfortune... that was the fastest, "im out" then "im back in" ive seen. I really need to get myself a UPS as well.

What do the toggle switches control?
I haven't decided yet. The way I had it set up before was one switch turned on my cabinet lighting, one would shut off items to perform a water change, and the other one would shut off the sound alarm. I will probably have it set up the same way.

I made sure to get a UPS right away. Will power essential flow and the apex for about 12 hours. I got a second ups for my router as well.

That's pretty cool. How easy was it to make your DIY switch box?

Nice. Any instructions/resources you could point me towards?
It's pretty simple.

Parts required
- radioshack project box
- 3 toggle switches
- 22 AWG wire
- solder

Tools required
- soldering iron
- drill
- wrench

Steps
1. Solder wires to the toggle switch
2. Drill clearance holes into the project box for the toggle switches
3. Drill exit hole on bottom
4. Mount toggle switches
5. Mount project box to tank
6. Connect wires to breakout box.

NICE!! I had one of those, and loved the size of it. I had a painful time trying to get it dialed in, because I wasn't familiar with the AIO tanks, but I'm sure you're smarter than me. Can't wait to see this come together. Glad to see that you changed your mind about getting out.
