So currently I am using 51 ml a day of original bionic 2 part. I have bulk creek soda ash 2 part made up. Does anyone know what is a goo calculation to start with for the bulk reef 2 part. I know that bionic is more concentrated and want to make sure I am bot drastically under dosing.

It would if I I was sure I did it right. I think I calculated it to 90 ml per day just want to get other opinions on who has tried it. Plus there's goes off consumption per day and I am not going to turn mine off for day because I know it would drop me by to much and corals will suffer.

If you start at the 75 ml that is suggested and measure the alk after 2 days you can gage how far off you are using the BRS calculator without just stopping your dose.

Sweet thanks guys. I just assume I am using a full dkh per day and if I drop well I dont think my corals would be very happy

Then I would say start with that 75ml figure and test your dKH. Wait a period of time that is at least 2 days away and test again at the same time of day. Enter those two tests into the current and desired part of the BRS calculator and add the dose to your 75ml if alk dropped or vise versa. This will tune your dosing amount to perfectly match your tank and you can manually add some extra to get exactly the number you want.

My understanding is that the B-Ionic 2 part also contains magnesium as well as other necessary trace elements, which you would not get with the BRS 2-part alone, as it only buffers alkalinity and calcium. I currently use the BRS 2-part as well, and to supplement magnesium and other trace elements, I use it in conjunction with the Tropic Marin balling method Part C to keep everything in-line (need magnesium to reduce precipitation at higher levels). BRS and Tropic Marin put their heads together and determined that you can dose the Part C in the same dosages as BRS alkalinity and calcium if you make a 1 gallon solution using 7.5 scoops of Tropic Marin Part C.

I hope that is helpful!

Out of curiosity, why are you switching?

Cheers,

Greg

Good information but I have noticed even with bionic supplementation is still needed for trace and definitely magnesium. I will look into that topic Marin stuff maybe I can put that to use.

Right, good to know with the magnesium with B-Ionic. Good point on the trace elements - this may make things easier on you, as it is very hard without an ICP test to determine the rate of consumption for most trace elements. My understanding, is that Tropic Marin has designed this around the average natural levels and rates that the elements are consumed, so they should follow closely to the consumption rates of calcium and alkalinity, if each of the 3 parts are dosed at equal rates.

Cheers!
