In trying to find a refugium that fits with my big skimmer (11" x 11" footprint) and match my new build I came across Eshopps new 3rd generation sump (http://www.aquacave.com/eshopps-refugium-r-200-125-225-gal-3rd-generation.html). With this design I can't seem to figure out how water gets to the refugium section. Also it looks like water from the drain also goes directly into the return area, wouldn't this defeat the purpose of returning somewhat clean water back to the DT? For those that have experience with this type of layout, what are the pros and cons of such a setup?

Thanks

I think it's a pretty new layout. They don't even have it on their own website yet. I think I'd want to see more before I made a decision. Looks like there would be some detritus traps that would be hard to clean.
