Yes. The second picture tells the story. The drains are working fine and keeping up. It looks like the overflow just isn't allowing enough flow through which is really strange for a tank that size.
Nuthin' wrong with using wavemakers/powerheads etc in the display to achieve your overall flow objective...actually is far better practice in some peoples' view...so win win...
