Other uses for RO/DI units

So Ive got a smaller 5 stage RO/DI unit just sitting around, Im wondering it it can be used for anything else? Can I add other medias to it and use it for some other kind of filtration / reactor or something? Or am I better off just selling / trading it for something else?

I don't see why they can't be used as media reactors. Only drawback I can foresee is reduced flow rates and different exhaustion rates. Change out carbon more frequently than gfo, but then again you can adjust your quantity so that they are both changed out at the same rate. You can run each canister separately by disconnecting them from each other too, since most are connected in series.
