2 Part Alk gone tan green

#1
I am sharing my experience with my alk 2 part collecting a dull green accumulation.

It looked like some fuzz algae but disappeared when stirred and the solution would then turn brown yellow.

Turns out this is okay! Dr. Randy F. Says he wouldn’t even worry about it, just some precipitation. It could have been from a few drops of my tank water during the alk spike incident as I was calmly frantic about cleaning all my equipment.

Anyway hope that helps someone looking on here when their 2 part gets weird looking.

GTK, I would be concerned too if I saw any fluids for the tank change color.

You can make more with some baking/washing soda and RO water. Alk side of the 2 part is easy to replace.

The black stuff is fungus IIRC - Dr. Holmes-Farley commented on this years ago, but my memory might be getting old.
