I understand that protecting the worlds oceans is priority, and is one of the major reasons I got into the hobby in the first place, but to put the clownfish on the endangered species list? I mean... seriously?

yup pretty messed up. If clown fish hit the endangered species list they might just go extinct because 90% of clown fish are now captive raised.

I dont mind them stopping wild collection of clowns. The part that bothers me is that any endangered species is illegal to own, trade, or sell regardless of how it was obtained. Essentially, almost everyone on the forum would become a criminal overnight. Total BS.

Thanks for the link, SynDen. I'll be making my donation here in 2 minutes. I wanted to be sure that I got the whole story before I started going insane, but the effects of what the lowest listing on the ESA actually does for the natural habitat is actually pretty good for everyone involved. If it goes beyond that, we're all screwed. They're even talking about permitting for those who would be grandfathered in who have clowns already. Yeah, that'll work in about ohhhh..... never?
