Algae on a frag

There might be something about this somewhere on the site but I didn't find anything. I bought a frag and it's just covered in algae. The guy scraped all of it off when I was there but yeah it just came right back... I scraped it off and 3 days later this is what it looks like. It's not on a plug so I can't swap that. I'm debating tossing it for fear of an algae outbreak. Anyone have any solutions? Anyone know what type of algae this is??

I feel for ya. I'm fighting hair algae on a paly plug. Usually my tang loves hair algae but she won't go near the palys. Hopefully someone has some ideas

I have had success dipping in a 50/50 hydrogen peroxide and tank water solution for 3-5 minutes. However I have only done this with zoas and palys I don't know if all corals would do well with that.

It is bryopis algae from the looks of it and if it is growing that fast in your tank then you have phosphate issue. I have a few strands in my tank and don't grow anymore since I put in a reactor. one thing you can do as well is pop the acan off the current plug and re-glue it.

There are algae dips which can kill algae on rock or plug (and leave the coral alone). Some people have had good success taking frags or even whole rocks and dipping them in it. Anyone know the name of what I am talking about?
