Birdsnest, whats happening

#1
Picked this up last week and wondering what is going on with it. This is my first attempt with a birdsnest and it looks like it is going away on me. What am I doing wrong and how do I fix it? Sorry for the poor pics I have not figure the camera thing out also. Parameters look good and alkalinity is at 9, ph 8.0, temp 78.5, 0 ammonia, 0 nitites, 2-3 nitrate.
Thanks

how high up is the birdsnest in the tank? what type of lighting are you using? how fast is it turning white? i have a few ideas of what it could be also do you coral dip before you put in your DT?

My guess would be getting stung by a favia or chalice. or maybe your magnesium might be getting in the low 1000's. Run mag and calc tests and let us know.

if everything is in check and it isnt being stung or anything like being to high in the par i would think either STN or RTN if that is the case you have two options go out get some coral dip dip the coral see if it continues or second remove it from the tank

Nitrates seem a bit high IMO. Mine like high flow and are right at the top of my stack. Id for sure check calcium and mag levels and let us know whats going on there.

Either way I would clip that section off right now (clipping just past dead spot into section that is still doing ok) if it were me.

Thanks guys. It sits almost all by itself and nothing can touch it, it is sitting aprox 14 inches from a AI nano running at the highest 28%white and 35% blue and royal. This happened in 2 days, no to coral dip but will get some tomorrow, sitting in a area with minimal flow. will run test tomorrow as I will have to go to LFS.

May need more flow, like i said my green BN and my pink BN both sit as high up as they can and are right in the path of the flow, they seem to like the heavy flow. I get great polyp extension on the green one.
