Building a canopy

So I am going to be building a canopy this weekend hopefully around my tank. I measured out an exact footprint of my tank on the ceiling. Was simply going to mount some 2x4's on the ceiling on the inside of the footprint and then simply hang some nice sheets of wood down off of the 2x4's on all sides down to the tank. I would reinforce the inside of the sheets hanging down around the corners with some 1x2's. Then add some cabinet doors and trim and call it a day. Any thoughts of what type of sheeted wood would be good. Also is it really that simply or am I missing something completely.

Don't forget you need to seal the inside of the canopy. It's going to see some high humidity. Don't want the wood warping.

Awesome, thank you. Would of completely skipped that part of it. Gonna do a nice rock base around the stand. Should look really nice when done.

Question: so the right side of the tank is 30 3/4 from the ceiling, the left side is 31 1/4 from the ceiling. I wanted to build a canopy to the ceiling but everything will be off 1/2" from one side to the other. Any thoughts on how to conceal that.
