Thought I was having a problem keeping my Calcium above 350, so I was dosing a lot, turns out over dosing, my test kit must have been bad. I have since got a Hanna Calcium checker. I tested and Calcium and it was at 566...whoa!!! I did a water change on Sunday, retested on Monday and it was at 450...good. I have not dosed any additional calcium and tested today and Calcium is back to 586...WTH!!!
Is Calcium at that level harmful, everything looks OK, but in the past 3-4 months I have not been able to keep any new LPS frags (chalice, acan) alive, they are fine for a few days to a couple of weeks and then bleach out practically overnight. Could this be that calcium is too high? What can be done short of water changes to bring Calcium back in normal range? Any thought would be appreciated.
