i need help with debri!!

So iv got a 90 gallon reef
45 gallon refug with cheato and protien skimmer which is running good
everything has been running great
levels are all great
but for the last couple days iv got like this thick bubbly film on the top of the water . I have two powerheads cycling the top water but it seems as if the film is thick enough to keep the
water from flowing along the top ??? .
Any idea whats going on???

Have you cleaned the teeth/openings on your overflow?

Probably a good idea shud prolly clean over flow completely i was going to wait til i got my ro di i ordered today and do it as i did a water change but it def wudnt be a bad idea!

sounds odd if your using an overflow its should be taking all that water from the top ....do what you need to to get more circulation up there and break it up so that it makes it to the skimmer

My 75g gets this film layer on it too if I don't clean the teeth on the overflow. It bascially traps the film on the top and the water flows down to the sump underneath the coating of yucky. I just take a sponge with the scrubber side and do a quick swipe on the front and back of the openings and then you can actually watch the slime go down to the sump.

I get it in my over flows from time to time.
