I am doing a breakdown of my 180g tank. I will be downsizing to a much smaller tank. So some of my fish and corals are staying with me. I need to move the fish and rock first. I need to sell the following things first. An equipment thread will be started over there. Obviously I need to get the stock sold so I cna sell most of the equipment.

Fish:

XXL Show size hippo 8"- Must go to a 180g or larger. This fish is awesome and super fat. My favorite fish. $75
5" Male Blue Throat Trigger- $60 Coolest fish in my tank- Reef safe and does not touch inverts.
4" Yellow Tang- $20
4"- Sailfin Tang $30
(3) Green Chromis $12

Pukani Live rock- My show piece rock is 50 lb Pukani Rock with 1XL Rainbow Nem and 2 small Rose nems- $200 for the whole rock. This is a show pice for sure.

Pukani Rock $2 lb Prob another 100lbs

XXL Hairy Mushroom Rock (size of a cantalope) $25
XL Leather Finger Coral- $20

Well if you can help get it off that rock it is yours. I am not sure how to get him off of that.
Take the rock out of the water and hang it above a bucket so the nem is facing down toward the bucket. Instinkt will make him detatch to find water and he will fall off. Ive done this numorus times and had no issues.

Scott...that really stinks to hear man, but sometimes it's necessary. :( What size tank are you going to (a nano i'm assuming)? That rock is AWESOME...if only I had $200 laying around. ;)

I tried that with a couple nems a few months ago...nothing. I left one out for easily over an hour with no success. :( I've just broken the rock around where the foot is and then use a dull edge of a dental pick to start the foot "peeling" process. Once you get the foot started, it's fairly easy. You can lose a good amount of rock though if the foot is WAY in. I've only had that once though.

lol that rock is huge, but that sounds like a really good way to take one off, how long does it take?
Never took me any longer than 10 - 15 minutes tops. It never hurt the nem either, Ive moved him twice this way. I just put a small amount of water in the bucket and hang the rock right over it, the nem will drop right into the water. Its the easiest way I know to remove it without damaging the foot.

Sometimes rubbing an ice cube along the foot while doing what reef chief is suggesting helps as well for the tougher ones :)
