Does anyone know if any saltwater stores get in halloween hermits or electric orange hermits? I found them unique but I can only seem to find them from online stores.

Maybe I can see if AquaMart can order some in for me. I'd really like to add them to my invert collection.

I saw PETCO at southlands had 4 or 5 for sale last week. $4.99 each. They just sell them as lrg asst reef hermit crabs. You have to look to see if they are Halloween hermits when they get them. But last week they were.

I unfortunately won't buy my saltwater fish from Petco. The few I've been to keep their tanks horrible. I've brought that to their attention along with how they house the red claw and fiddler crabs. Still waiting for a change...........

All the more reason to rescue the live stock. Ive actually made Petco give me 2 clown fish before becuase of the conditions they had them in. Told them it was in humane and I would report them if they didnt bag em up for me. One of the clowns died shortly after, but I still have the other one. Ive seen people take cats fomr them this way as well.

I'm not against getting any animal from Petco. Glad to see someone else noticed too! I have rescued fiddlers from a slow death. They do a bad job on their fish up keep in my opinion. The saltwater is all mixed up and they always have dead fish. I got a lot of fish from Petco years ago and all were infected. Even a poor fiddler I got was suffering

 the best one i go to to is by the target here in colorado springs, I think on powers. they said it's like the top 10 of the nation. they have corals and an ok selection of fish. ive been tempted to buy some of the corals ive seen. there systems are small and they're probably not set up right for salt, but if they take care of the tanks and medicate they can probably keep fish in their for a long time. ive bought some fish before from them and they are good. its just that they shouldnt have some of the fish they have in there sometimes, like lionfish, baby tangs that will get huge, and non reef safe fish for tanks with animals that can be harmed by their tanks mates due to aggressiveness or companionship. i think they should just keep the basic clowns, some reef safe wrasses, anthias, and some easier to take care of fish.

The PETCO in southlands is the ONLY PETCO I would buy from. Their tanks are kept clean and the manager actually knows about fish and keeps several tanks himself, including planted and reef tanks. He actually steers people away from PETCO products and suggests better alternatives available elsewhere. Their corals do suffer when they get them in. But the fish and other inverts are taken care of better than any other PETCO and some LFS's.

But I totally understand where your point of view comes from. I have not bought any livestock from PETCO in nearly 20 years until I went into this one.
