so the mods might have to turn this in to a F/S thread. I might be breaking down the EQUIPMENT for my tank as well as rock and sand. Not sure yet.

Anywho. Just got word the tank is basically dead. Fish, inverts, coral… doubt the rock will be salvageable for LR and sand the same...

anyone who knows what i have can message me if they want dibs on anything prior to posting, otherwise like i said ill do a followup with what I'm breaking down.

Newtoreef has a key and will be checking tomorrow for anything salvageable. He went by tonight to "check" on the system that was supposed to be running just fine but showed up and ammonia is over 4.0 and every fish was dead. Water was ice cold, in the 50s.

EB- I'll call you tomorrow if I need help with newtoreef as I'm back in Texas. But I'll let you know.

But yes. This is a very crappy situation and as some of you know I have picked up quite a few choice corals over the last month which unfortunately from what I hear, nothing has flesh but a couple acans and all softies have melted but a few nubs of some zoas that MIGHT not be dead.

What a bummer!!!! You got to remember we have fragile systems in a glass box. Things can go wrong at any time, but if you love this hobby. You stick it out and start over, you don't need to get rid of anything as far as rock and sand go. Just get everything up and running again and give it time. I have had some pretty bad crashes over the many years in this awsome hobby as well as many others here. You know we have a great group of people here who will help you out in a flash. Take care and keep your chin up.

Thank you all for the support. Reason for the possibly FS thread is because my lease will end and I may not be able to set up the 180. But rest assured I am NOT out of the hobby. Definitely didn't just get custom lights to get out.

Had the night to think about it, when I get back ill tap the tank, start it fresh an go from there. You guys and the community are awesome and the support has been more than I could've expected.

I know some have had bad crashes and unfortunately this is my first so it was a matter of time until something happened. Tear down, clean and rebuild is the plan. I'll post pics during the rebuild and I will keep y'all updated. Thank you again for all of the support!

Try to not think of this as a setback but as an excuse to make an even more awesome build. Waiting for that thread but i realize it might be awhile. You will come out of this even stronger for the experience or at least that's what i tell myself after a loss

Thank you all for this. I haven't been on in a bit and turned my notifications off to clear my head. Shot an 86 golfing today!!! Anyway, I will definitely be doing a new build for the tank, now without having the rush or space or time with another tank, I can make this one done right and how i want it.

I am telling myself this, everyone has a crash here and there and i would be naive to think id never see one. It was a matter of time till something went wrong and my time came when i wasn't near the system. Bad timing is all and unfortunately, money aside, the fish and corals are truly what suffered the biggest loss out of this all. Reefkeeper, Reef Angel, Apex… one of these will be on the system this go around, not sure which yet (so maybe when i start the build those of y'all with the brands can chime in on opinions of product and testimonials? ) but I cannot let myself setup this new system at the risk of the fish, invert and corals lives.
