Yes, they are basically upgraded black boxes. He has however done a better job at covering the right spectrums. Everyone that I have talked to that has them has been happy with color and coral growth.

There is a black box light on CL for $100 if you wanted to give their retrofit kit a try.....http://fortcollins.craigslist.org/ele/5533867125.html It appears to have the 55 lights that the guy at SB Reef Lights mentions as the perfect candidate.
