Checked your water parameters lately? I had high Alkalinity and it wiped out candy canes in a few days. As a general rule it's hard to ask for help with out us knowing your baseline numbers...
Check the salinity first with a verified instrument. Then, the other basic parameters right behind. What is the salinity, temp, alk, calcium, nitrate and phosphate?
The candy cane looks OK to me - I don't see anything weird on it.
I test everything every 6 days. Last measurements were as follows:
PH: 8.18
Nitrates: 0
Ammonia: 0 (or close to it)
Phosphates: 0 (or close to it)
Alkilinity: 8.7 dkh (which is a bit higher than normal, which is mid 7s)
Calcium: 435
Magnesium: 1280 (which is a bit lower than normal, which is 1330)
Temp: 77.7
I have stuff all over the stem on my candy cane. If the polyps are open and look good like they do I wouldn't worry about the stony part getting algae or other growth unless it affects the polyps.
