They are a small polyp scleractinia (SPS), which is one of the true corals (leaves a skeleton behind). They are very easy to care for if you have the right kind of tank, grow quickly and some consider them a weed. However, they can die very quickly if your tank is ill-equipped. They are known as one of the easier SPS.

I personally would say they are Standard Corals. As Jda said, they are one of the easier SPS to keep along with birdsnest and montipora. Extreme Corals are more like expensive chalices, hard to keep corals like NPS, and other expensive corals. value greater than $20
