Wish I could have seen this in person. How well was the rock balanced? it looks like it could be knocked over easily.

Rock is solid, I'd say impossible to knock over. The bottom is flat, and almost as large as what you see up top, just below the sand. It's one solid piece, each stem is NOT separate.

Did you get this system going enough to see how well that skimmer works?

I get a nice 1/2 cup of skim daily, works real nice. Just have to be precise when removing the cup, as you disturb the position of the unit, which affects its water level. Once you know this, no issues.
