yup, just another terrific way to spread aiptasia all over the place, this goes in the hall of blame along side the aiptasia electro spreader.

Aaron, you dont think it would burn/melt any spores at the same time? Im not saying your wrong because that was my thought as well... just curious why you think they will spread worse?

Looks like a cool toy, but it didn't kill the aiptasia. It's only wounded, and there's not much worse than a wounded aiptasia to release its spores.

All they need is a single cell, and that laser just melted cells all over the place.

OK so I've got a question. If it's believed that just by irritating it that it will release spores do peppermint shrimp eat the aiptasia in just one bite? Cause wouldnt the peppermint shrimp also release aptasia spores into the water column? Or is it that they are just constantly eating it and thats why it never really has a chance to spore out??

But if a peppermint shrimp can spend a minute or so chewing on an aptasia without it releasing spores why is it unpheasable for the laser to do the same thing?

I think they just never give up, and they get all the flesh, and babies as they pop up, tenacity.

Well what about a CBB when it eats the aiptasia, wouldnt it release the spores too?

Thats what I figured. So theoretically I could keep zapping the crap out of the aptasia from the second they were visible, with that same tenacity lol? I'd just be the one doing the work lol.

I dunno how killed the aiptasia is after the laser treatment, its not like the laser is eating, or removing it.

I'd assume that disintigration would be a removal of sorts? Assumption of course.

Disintigrated, vaporized, exorcized, and demoralized!!! Send that biatch back to hell!!!
The laser is just another wavelength of light, causing a radiation burn, and while some of the animal is recieving the full potential, much of it is not, and pieces of flesh contaning live cells are both left behind, and released into the water.
IMO- The laser would have to be a larger diameter and very powerfull, encompasing the entire animal, for some length of time.
I am not saying its impossible, just VERY impractical.

I really don't think that it's being disintegrated....if you look at the end of the clip you can see some of the aiptasia tentacles that haven't even been affected by the laser.

As for the peppermint shrimp and CBB's....I think Aaron is probably right....tenacity is the key. The only animal I know of that doesn't give the aiptasia enough time to release spores
is the Berghia nudibranch. Those little guys swallow the aiptasia whole before it knows what is happening hehe.

Hey guys, I am the op of that video on you tube, i just want to let you all know its been almost a month an NONE (Zero) of the original Aiptasia that i zapped have come back.
This method is not only effective, but easy. I have been a laser enthusiast for years, and know the real power behind them. the Beam does not just "melt" the pests. its flat out dissolves their biological structure.

Think of this method as actually pulling your rocks out and blow torching the aiptasia.
Since this video was taken i have gotten a 1.2W laser that is waterproof, and will reach any part of the tank.
