So I am up for a challenge and would like to create a nano tank using all parts I have laying around the house (therefore the challenge cause its going to take some thought and macgyvering). The only tank I have is a 10g I used for a quarantine a couple of times. My wife says I should use that, and I got all excited until I brought the tank upstairs and realized how tiny it was. What would you guys think would make a better zoa nano a 10 gallon or say a 20g long thats only 20 bucks right now at petco? IF you say the 20g please insert a comment/trick you have used to get your loving other to agree. I've tried, you can have a clownfish and there will be more room for even more coral, but both fell flat on there face.

20 gal with a 10g sump.

"More volume = greater stability, babe!"

This is how Mike talked me into a 700 gal system...

My first nano(24yrs ago) was a 15gal with two HOB filters. One with bio media and the other with chemical filtration media. Lighting consisted of two double 8watt cfl lights. Never grew any sps but softies and shrooms were super easy. Even had a small carpet nem with a clownfish in there. Just my tidbits of history.

Haha! I remember my uncles top of the line tank 24 years ago, it doesn't sound to far off from that :) I'm sure it was cool. I wanted a 15g but a 20 long is really close.

Roots backed up the sewer and caused havoc downstairs last night :(. Additionally I spaced I've got hernia repair surgery tomorrow. With the $ put into sewer repair and the physical down time this project is getting postponed. Not cancelled though, I'll be using this time to really research the 20g long build. Keep voting though! I want to show my wife the land slide vote at the end :) And then post a poll for the next component.

So this will be an interesting build, I am going to create an all in one type tank and have lots of plans and experiments, muhahaha. I absolutely am not allowed to have a sump upstairs :(, time to get creative. It will be 20g long, leds, wp10, tiny fuge in reactor cyclender and ac70 or modified canister. heater and some sort of controller. Ive got LR, just running numbers in my head for display amount and what I can hide in back. With 20 credits this semester, a slow start recovering from surgery and the mess down stairs I wasn't planning on starting this till after summer but I am taking an environmental class and need to create 3 projects, why not do something I like with the tank and call it "biodiversity building in home aquaria" :) I also plan on having it running for some time before getting coral even with the LR being cycled 1 year +.

Speaking of which I need to give the sand a good rinsing before activating it in the LR container.

First things first Iv'e got to build the hood
