I'm looking for a wavemaker/wave generator/wave box (not sure the exact name of what I am hunting for) that works by pulling in and pushing out water from a container in a tank.

I'm trying to find one for my existing 75 gallon tank.

Thanks!

That sounds tempting. Does it come with the controller. I just looked up some videos and it looks like it provides the movement I'm seeking.

You could use a wp25 way cheaper then a wave box. I use the wp 40 to make a wave in the 220
I had never heard of the wp25 but like the price tag a lot more!

Okay, I think you have me sold on this. :) one random question, do you have/does it work well with an overflow box?

My 75 is reef ready, however, I did run 2 WP40 on my 180 which used an external overflow box and i had no issues.

What you described is a wave box - Tunze makes these, or you can make your own out of an old Tunze pump (6100 for $100) and a wave controller ($75 or make your own) and some acrylic. The wave that they make is a little bit different than what you can do with a power head, but the power head might be fine for what you are wanting. I like the waves that a real wave box makes a LOT better than the ones from a powerhead, but everybody has different opinions on this. When gathering opinions, be sure and ask/figure-out what the person was using to generate the wave.

If you wanted you could make box for the wp25
That's a good idea. I'm looking up a little more about if the wp25 vs a box. We're really trying to get the same effect as the display tank at the front of elite reef.

Not trying tp push the sale, but I think the MPs and WPs are better than a wave box and easier to clean!

The wave at Elite is a multiple wave - dual IIRC. The powerheads can do this. I have never seen one do the 6 or 8 foot single wave with the 4-5 second back and forth, but perhaps they can - I would like to know the settings for a 7096 if somebody knows how. The wave program on my Tunzes or on a MP40 are not the same. They can all do a dual, triple, etc. wave.

Talked to the other half and he really wants a box instead of a powerhead. We haven't had much luck with the powerheads we have.

my wp60 does the same wave action as the tank in front of elite reef in my 300. That box at elite has a mp in the box so it is a power head in a box

Where are you located. I would recommend looking at tanks that use both. My tank is always avialable if your up north

That may be helpful, it's hard to tell exactly what each can do based on YouTube videos alone. I'm up in Thornton.
