Make sure that the tank has some heaters and flow and it will be Ok without the sump for a while.

AquaChill Industries Chiller. This is a commercial drop-in unit like you see in Lobster tanks. Takes r134a and has a service port - it probably needs a squirt of refrigerant. This is a high end chiller. It comes with a working Ranco Controller. 110v. Free in Longmont.

Light timer on Mh just turns them on and off. It takes a few minutes for the MH bulbs to fully illuminate, so there is a slight ramp up, but then they just shut off. I am not sure that ramp up and down does for the tank, but some people like it.

I mostly use MH too. I have had the fixtures and ballasts for more than a decade, there is no cost savings in daily running to have the same output and any heat in the room is fine since I spend 70% of my tank cost to heat them. This does not even speak of the excellent performance. I change...

You probably have to fill the display with cloudy flocculant and have the worms catch and eat it - might not be good for other things in the tank.

We did a contest a while back for a $1000 budget tank. It drove some activity, but waned as the year went on. It turned out to be harder for many than they thought, but I think that people might have learned some stuff from it.
