Don't dip them in typical dips like CoralRx, Revive or the like. If you have to dip, then potassium chloride or bayer.

They are like normal acropora except most cannot cannot handle as much parameter flux - more stability. Most are not going to be happy with higher no3 and po4 levels. The majority are not happy under super heavy-blue, so mix in some daylight. Some will not encrust, so make sure that you secure them well. If you can keep them happy, most grow very fast and are really beautiful.

For the most part, they just require a bit more stability and care. There is a reason why they have kinda declined with nanos, lower intensity and more blue lighting and people wanting turn-key tanks that look like mature reefs in 2 months. Just be smart and they are pretty easy. There are some well-known ones that are very easy - like true ORA Hawkins - that will grow more like a tenuis or stag under less than ideal conditions.

These acropora come from the same places that the others do. Most everything that we have in this hobby is collected on one breath. Going deeper is expensive with equipment and certifications and stuff - this is usually reserved for catching rare fish which can bring hundreds of dollars instead of pennies like corals can. Many corals that we have in the hobby are harvested at low tide in waist deep water. All corals do exist deeper than what one breath will get you, but those are not usually collected for the hobby and all of them are shallower like 5 meters.

Smooth skin are mariculture a lot now and those are usually in 10-20 feet where they can work off of hoses and masks.
