Well the tank has been full for a couple months now and I am confident enough that I'm not going to have an embarrassing catastrophe, that I want to share! I know everyone just comes for pictures so with further ado...

Starting space:


Framing and whole room tile drip pan to floor drain:


Fish/laundry room:


Building the box!! Two layers of 3/4 hardwood ply


Leveled and in place: hubby for size reference


3 layers of fiberglass mat later:


And an additional 3 layers of epoxy resin with kevlar composite:


Fiberglass sucks! And I'm allergic to acetone...


Setting the glass. 3/4" starfire:

It took 2 weeks for the RO/DI to just fill the tank...


Huston we have a fish room!


First cup of skimmate, god I'm a fish nerd...


700 gallons and they all hang out right there lol


Today:


Still a lot to be done but after a year of hard work I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Next step is lighting, 10 radion g4 minimum, and three closed loops powered by vectra L1's. And I really need to get the tank covered, the evaporation right now is insane!

Thanks guys! A few of you may know me as one of Cris Capps guys. That being said the entire left side is reserved to sticks! My husband gets the right side, he's more of a lps guy haha. Fish wise I plan on keeping stocking light, Achilles tang is at the top of my list, along with a quoyi parrotfish and adding to my current group of carberryi anthias.

Looks awesome. Why not look at Kessil or Orphek for some of their larger units for public aquaria. You might be able to get away with fewer units.

I was actually talking to someone about those big cannon multichannel chips yesterday. That might really be something worth looking into, those glitter lines would be awesome

I was thinking the same thing. What are the dimensions of this beast? You would probably get better penetration with these than the Radions.

That is an amazing build! Hats off to you and your husband? Any chance of hosting a meeting so we can see this beast in person?

86"x48"x48" roughly, so she's a deep one! I'm really not a fan of kessils smaller units, I feel they went really cheap with the "tech" for the controllability and actual lighting hardware. Cheap Chinese leds and the OS drives me crazy.... who uses a mini usb these days...
I'll have to do some research I have heard REALLY good things about their commercial systems for public aquaria though!

Thank you! We would be honored, can we finish the basement first though haha. I don't know if you saw but we live in Strasburg, it is a ways out of Denver. And I work Saturdays so if Sunday would be okay?

Absolutely Scott! I spent a good year pouring over threads like yours, before I finally bought any sort of building materials. I'm honored you guys really want to see it. Maybe that's just the kick in the pants I need to get the basement done LOL.

I know the feeling on the basement, all goes well I will start taping and mudding this week or next, only took 3 years, still need to get my stand finished though before I can carpet or paint.

So cool seeing the construction of this massive tank. Great work and thanks for sharing! I can't imagine what it would be like to fill it up with water the first time!!

Thanks everybody! It so nice to be able to see something now rather than just a vision in my head, big tanks are a whole different animal and I'm hooked.

Scott, haha that's funny I'm putting off tape and mud today actually. Next step is sanding and after this project I am sooo over sanding lol

Neil82 haha I was a mess, so nerve wracking lol. That's a lot of water. And we did it saltwater from the mixing station so it took 2 weeks to fill the tank, not including sump overflow and water change vat.
