Get ya some powerful pumps and point them at the bottom of the barrel in between the rocks. Mags 9.5 or 12s, or the like, work great... or whatever you have laying around.

With my phosphate experiments with Dr. Holmes-Farley, I learned that salinity and temperature matters. If you need to soak up some phosphate with LC, then 78-80 degrees and 1.026 will work best... the stuff will unbind best in the conditions that it was bound, is what I learned, IIRC. You don't need to heat it to let bacteria go to work, just for maximum phosphate removal.

I have some blue rubbermaid totes if you want to add one or two more vats of water and put some of the rock in it so you can lower the water levels in your Brutes?

I would imagine you would want to shy away from air stones as nitrifying bacteria needs a LOT less oxygen than algae does. Also the super strong pump idea could help knock algae off.

This thread has me thinking that I'm eligible to upgrade to a 6 ft tank as long as it doubles as my coffin. Now I know how to pitch it to the boss. Thanks Andrew!

Just remind your wives that those guys/couples that you know where the guy drinks too much and goes home with different skanks from time to time, gets injured on his toys trying to jump something or otherwise act like he is twenty years younger, or loses a fortune gambling. A hobby that keeps me at home is an easy sell to my wife.

That’s 10 amps right there just in lighting. How many breakers do you have dedicated to the tank?

I think he has at least one 20 amp to the tank and maybe another in the fish room. The electrician was there when we were doing the stand.

Yes I have a 20 am for tank plus a 20 amp and 15 am in fish room. Have to make sure this bad boy is ready to run as soon as I have the time. Hopefully plumbing it in on Sunday so that I can do rock structure and get it full of water. After that I can let it sit for while and be ready for corals.
