Have you seen these Scolys? Your local stores need your help.

I hope this is in the right place, if not feel free to move it! Some of you know me, some of you do not. I'm Brie, I run the saltwater department at Neptune's Tropical Fish in Highlands Ranch.

There have now been multiple break ins in multiple stores in the Denver area. Today, I walked into Neptune's to find glass all over the front of the store, water on the floor and nets precariously perched on top of open fish tanks...and then I realized how many animals were missing. At first, thieves were stealing mostly equipment which is a significant loss but now they've moved on to livestock. We need your help to catch the culprits before any more damage is done. At this point, I'm not as worried about the money that we've lost. What bothers me is the animals I've spent my days caring for that are now missing. I know that Sharon (owner of Neptune's), my coworkers, and those affected at other stores will appreciate any information. I'm going to post a list of livestock to be on the lookout for, this isn't everything stolen but some of the more distinctive items. All we ask is that if you see anything suspicious you contact somone, whether it's the police or one of the managers at Neptune's.

For starters, this is what I walked into today:
It would appear that the thieves tried to block the cold breeze from the fish they didn't steal with our towels.

Livestock to watch for:
Bleeding Apple Scoly

Warpaint Scoly

Ultra Blue Chalice (4 inches)
"v-shaped" Red and White Coco Worm
Neon Orange Yuma Ricordea Mushroom Rock
Metallic Green Torch Coral
Red and Green Favia Rock (6 inches)
Platinum Percula Clownfish
Exquisite Wrasse
Baby Blue Female Bellus Angelfish
Blue Face Angelfish (5 inches with a scuff on his left side)
Marine Betta (3 inches)

Thank you!

This is crazy! So sorry this happened to you. It's hard to feel safe with some chicken doody people running around taking what other people actually worked for. A reckoning is coming. I can't believe they stuck towels in the windows after like they were doing anyone a favor.

+1 to the others comments. this is a horrible tragedy and needs to come to an end. Its nice to have a comprehensive list of what is missing, and as I'm sure we all already are, we will keep a close eye out on CL, other sites and forums related. At some point this person will get caught. no doubt, its only a matter of time before they get caught red handed or do something stupid with how much "confidence" they've gained with the past break ins. Hope you guys recover well and hopefully we can recover all these stores missing goods!!

just an observation...
Wednesday Jan. 15th, Aquamart got hit 1st time for Pumps, Lights, Controllers, a skimmer and a yellow tang...
Saturday Jan. 25th, Aquamart got hit 2nd time for Apex case and other misc
Thursday Jan. 30th, Neptune's gets hit, Specifically for livestock...

Not really a pattern so to say... but to me says that this person or group of people are casing these places and obviously taking DETAILED notes on store layouts.
and id like to point out that they hit the store with possibly the most $ in dry goods and equipment on hand in Denver and then followed up with hitting the 1 store that no matter who you talk to says good things about their livestock they receive from Neptune's due to their extensive QT process...

These jerks know what they're doing. They know these stores, and their reputations. They planned this out. Sounds to me like they cased both places, then did an equipment grab to judge the police response time, followed by a livestock theft once they had it dialed in. I really hope they get busted VERY soon. If there's any video footage or security camera pics, I would love to see them posted up so that someone maybe could see something they recognize.
I hope all of the vendors in the area are on high alert. Not just retail stores, but also the home-based ones. If these thieves continue getting more brazen, armed robberies are not far behind break-ins.

I just sent in a news tip to 9news about the robberies. Let's see if they bite on it. The more people that will see this the better. Who knows if these clowns will head up north.

i made a thread on R2R as well about this and the Aquamart ones to have them keep an eye out for any fishy sales (sorry for the pun). But also to raise awareness to on safety and security.

Serial numbers and photos if any would help more than 1000 words. Neither of these stores have a height projection? race? age? car even... model age or type? suv or car...?
Anything to help the community keep an eye out.

WTF! I cant believe how brazen this jackass is. I certainly hope he gets caught and the full weight of the law thrown at him/them

I don't think I have ever heard of anyone breaking into a LFS and stealing fish. Iv'e seen security footage while the store is open of thieves taking stuff and when working at petco caught people stealing stuff/birds and lizards but this is just odd. +1 on whats been said so far and I would encourage everyone to take extra precaution dealing with any one from craigslist or not well known to you. Group buy on security cameras?

Just an observation, but this guy is either new and just stealing what equipment he finds is "best" online or he has multiple tanks. No experienced reefer would grab an angel with a bunch of fleshy lps for it to munch on. He took powerheads, but I didn't hear about pumps, skimmers, or salt for water changes. I could, of course, be wrong but that's how I read it.

First robbery had skimmer and pumps iirc.

I'd be trying to look into ebay if you can search stuff by seller location. I don't think they'd be dumb enough to list it local real soon.

I agree it's possibly someone who knows enough but always poor deciding they just want to have a cool tank like the big boys.... I mean if Neptunes is right they were trying to protect what they didn't take means they do maybe care about the hobby, just deranged on their methods.

Or also depending on some of this stuff, perhaps they are trying to start their own in their house business on the side..
