Tank Cleaning Suggestions??

#1
Just got done tearing down the tank after it crashed and I was able to get all the corals out and donated to a couple of members (hope they are returning to normal).

My question is what would anybody suggest for something that pumps, powewrheads, bulkheads, etc can be soaked in to remove all of the Coraline algae and other assorted saltwater gunk that has coated these things over the years without damaging the plastic/moving parts

I am planning on just storing the tank and all the equipment for a few years before I set it up again so not worried about contamination as it should be safe after sitting for some time after cleaning/soaking

Any suggestions would much appreciated.

On another note, thanks to all that have helped along the way with info, livestock and general support. I will miss the hobby and the community, but it has been five years of joy (and some sorrow), and I need a break, but it has all been worth it.

See you all when I return to the hobby.

I use vinegar than rinse than bleach and rinse and rinse. Depending on the tank size usually a gallon or two. Mr. Saltwater has a video on YouTube about cleaning and a product he likes.

Just fill a tote or even your whole tank in to and get a couple gallons of vinigar and our a power head or pump in there and let it soak for a couple days!

+1 on vinegar. I did that on some crusty Koralia's I bought off eBay. Look like new now. One tougher stuff, let it soak, then use your thumbnail to scrap off anything left, then resoak. Should be easy.
