Dipping?

people have talked about dipping macro algae but how long is a "dip"? Is this a quick dip in fresh water or a couple minute dip in fresh water?

I dipped macros in rodi only for a few minutes no more than 5 and stir it around by hand to shake off any potential pests.

I keep meaning to try the Bayer dip on some of my macro to make sure it will not kill the algae itself.

Do keep in mind that dipping Macro means you lose all the beneficial stuff crawling around in it as well as the possible pests. Many people actually get the macro as much for the beneficial critters as for the algae.
