FWIW, I had an aptasia eating file fish that developed a taste for zoas. After he ate up the aptasia, he mowed down all the zoas I had while I was trying to figure out what was wrong with my water chemistry. I saw him eating my purple death palys, and bagged & tagged him the same day. I've had other folks say that they had no issues at all with their AEFF, other than they didn't eat aptasia. And yet others who say they ate aptasia like champs and nothing else. I think it's a crapshoot. Fortunately, they're not tough to catch.
