Welcome to the club! What kind of lighting are you running on the 40b?
I have (2) AI Hydra 26 HD suspended from the ceiling 10" over the water surface. I have them running 9:00 - 4:00 ramping up over three hours to 50% right now. So the lights are on a max 50% power on RY and B for just 2 hours a day. I have been told by numerous people to start LEDs low and work up.
Tank equipment:
Tank: 40-Gallon Breeder
Lights: (2) AI Hydra 26 HD - recommended spread is 18 x 18, so this should be perfect for the 18 x 36 tank.
Sump: Trigger Sapphire 26
Reservoir: Trigger Sapphire ATO 5-gallon
Skimmer: Reef Octopus Classic 100-S - All that would fit in my budget
Overflow: Synergy Reef 16" Shadow
Rock: BRS Reefsaver
Sand: Fiji Pink 3/4" bed
Return: Quiet One Pro 4000 - Super quiet BTW
Powerheads: (2) Tunze Turbelle Nanostream 6025 & (1) Tunze Nanosteam 6020 on the back wall opposite side of return
Media: BRS Dual Reactor - running ROX carbon and GFO, but running it in from return area of the sump back into the fuge. This was the only way to mount the reactor. I went cheap on the stand and am really regretting it!
Controller: Reefkeeper Lite - I had this on my Biocube and just moved it over and added an extra power bar and the SLX module with a float switch to run my ATO and a Vertex PH probe.
I used all the expensive gate valves and unions per Ryan's advice on BRStv and also the silicone tubing for its flexibility and to cut down on vibration noise.
I think that covers it. I do plan to dose vinegar once needed with the BRS dosing pump, but for now we are still building up the natural filters.
Glad to be here. Let me know if I can answer anymore questions.
