Other than the obvious, to support MASNA, are there any benefits to joining the group?
I looked at their website and cannot find anything that lists any benefits. (I did see that MASNA members can enter the MACNA exhibit hall earlier, but not being a morning person, that is of questionable 'value' to me personally.. LOL)

Thanks!

Hey Robin,

You can join MASNA as an individual, a club can join or a company can sponsor them. I've been an individual member for almost two decades. Joining MASNA supports the parent organization, much like joining MASC and paying dues helps pay for the website and other costs.

As a member of MASNA you can:

- Vote on Aquarist of the Year awards
- Vote for MASNA BOD members
- Access MACNA one hour early on Friday
- Attend the monthly and yearly MASNA meeting

MASNA used to publish a newsletter, called Marine Scene... that moved to an e-mail based news letter, but sadly hasn't been published for a few years due to a lack of Board staffing.

MASNA also supports several programs:

- The MASNA scholarships, for students in marine sciences
- The MASNA Speaker program, supplementing clubs for bringing in an approved speaker with a $300 stipend to help defray costs.
- MASNA also owns MACNA, the yearly marine conference that is coming to Denver this August.
