Ongoing plumbing issues

So I've been trying to finally put bulkheads in, only issue is that I can't find the size that fits. I've tried the BFS ones, uni-seals, and the Bomgaars ones.

I have two options from what I can tell, find bulkheads that fit or drill the holes bigger.

What do I do?

Hole in tank, can't get a good measurement, but looks to be around 1 5/8" The bulkheads are a tad bit too big. Can I sand them down a 1/16" or will that cause adverse effects?

Username, yes

Nevermind, if I had to sand the new bulkheads down that would almost remove all of the threads.

and 1 5/8" hole should fit a 1" bulkhead. I wouldn't recommend sanding the bulkhead because you could damage the threads.

Do you have a 1 5/8" hole saw? I would make sure the hole is the right size and maybe widen it just a tad. Sounds like its in a hard to reach spot though, if you can reach it at all, might be able to sand the hole bigger.

Have you tried both schedule 40 and schedule 80 bulkheads?
Schedule 40 bulkheads are a little smaller than 80's.
Then again, I guess someone could have drilled it for a metric bulkhead.

Re: Ongoing plumbing issues

I'm going to try drilling when I have my drill at home, I don't trust my impact with conversion to not chip.

I've tried sch 40 and 80, not metric yet though. Where do I get those?

I'm currently sanding, but it's taking forever.

Craig included one of the acrylic tubes he used, but I couldn't get it to work.

I've never had this amount of trouble plumbing a tank.

Ongoing plumbing issues

Just drill the tank to a standard size. I think the rest of the plumbing would be easy that way.

It's already drilled, just can't find the appropriate sized bulkheads.
