Question on peristalic pumps...

...I hope I am spelling that right...
Hey all...I was hoping someone might tell me about about peristalic pumps used for top off etc...
Forgive my ignorance here...let me make sure I am using the term right: These pumps use a flexible tube and the motion of a little cam to move liquid up the tube in small doses...
Used in many dosing and top off applications...
My question is, will a pump set up in this manner allow a siphon to occur, if the source of RO water or dosing fluids was above the output? Or does the liquid only move through when the pump is active?

The reason I ask is that I am short of space under-cabinet, and wanted to mount the dosing jugs up on the wall a bit...but I am worried they would siphon down...
Thoughts?
Thanks!

Pick a quality pump and there shouldn't be any problems. It's been a while since I've looked at them but I believe they mention that they won't siphon. There's a lot of people on here running dosing pumps. I'm sure they will add to this.
BTW what brand are you looking at. Someone else may have experience with it.

it won't create a siphon. The cam is always in contact with the tubing so it cannot siphon back. It's truely off when its not spinning. I have mine setup for ato and if it siphoned back my line would have air in it when it was done pumping but its just water. You should be fine with your setup.

Thanks for the replies guys...
This is happy news.
I had not got as far as choosing a brand yet....kinda scoping out my whole controller/dosing solution at the moment. But being able to put the jugs in the cabinet, really helps me get started.
Thanks!
