Does anyone know in town where I can pick up a new R/O Filter?

I have found the membrane a lot cheaper on eBay. Filters honestly walmart unless you have a chloramines system or need DI resin

I sell them and shipping wouldn't be much from the springs. $6 for a 1 micron sediment, $9 for a 5 micron carbon block and $13 for a .6 micron carbon block. Also carry di resin and can drop ship membranes to you

Are they universal? Do the filters work in any system or do you have to buy system specific filters?

Ahh...no. I'll respectfully disagree with that. Good luck with that approach!
And you are??? Youd do know Wal-mart sells the padded filters and carbon filters for RO right?

The prefilters you'll find at walmart are intended for drinking water RO systems. Think 12 gpd membranes and the like. Often the filter specs are not even provided on the filters. When the are, they are not of a quality suitable for the high gpd systems used in this hobby. I'll give you a dollar if you can buy a carbon block with a chlorine capacity specified on it at walmart. HD and Lowes sell the same sort of stuff - and they are more expensive than people in this hobby can buy at from RODI specialty stores that cater to this hobby. Not sure what you mean by "padded filters."
